"Grand Marais Sunset - November 9, 2011"
This was the scene tonight at sunset in Grand Marais, Minnesota. It was cloudy all day, but as sometimes happens during this gray time of year, the day ended with a splash of color!

"Tower Galaxy"
I haven't been doing much shooting so far this November, so lately I've been working on more photos that were taken earlier this fall. This particular photo was made on the night of September 4, 2011 at about 1:00 in the morning. The Milky Way was so bright that night it looked like it was jumping out of the sky at us.

"Starry Night in the Maple Forest"
This photo was made last night when there was supposed to be a pretty good chance of seeing some Northern Lights. While the Aurora was a no-show, the stars last night were incredibly vivid, so much so that it felt like you could reach up and pluck them from the sky.
The magic of the night reminded me of my favorite quote from Vincent van Gogh:
"For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream."
