The Susie Islands
Quite possibly my favorite place to explore and make photographs, the Susie Islands are a small chain of islands within the Grand Portage Reservation. Comprised of approximately 15 islands of various sizes, the Susies are a rugged yet beautiful paradise with cobble beaches, rocky basalt and granite points covered with boreal forest, and some arctic plant species that are normally found only in tundra areas.
Camping is NOT permitted on the islands and boaters/kayakers/canoeists are asked to obtain permission from the Grand Portage Reservation before setting foot on any of the islands.
